About
What is a fauxmos?
Broadly speaking, a fauxmos is someone who could be regarded for a variety of reasons, to be a failure at representing sterotypes associated with their sexual orientation. It is a bit more complicated than that though, but you’ll know if you are one. The official manifesto outlines many of our positions.
How did it all start?
With this blog post by Elly. The other three of us read it and saw a lot of ourselves in it. So the #fauxmos hashtag on twitter started. It then went further and this blog is the inevitable result.
Who are you?
In alphabetical order: Anwen, Billy, Elly and Jenny. We each have our own perspective to offer on fauxmos issues and are available for weddings, bar mitzvahs, funerals, birthday parties and much more besides at a reasonable fee. We’ve even met in real life.
What did you talk about?
Sex mainly, except Billy, whose role was to sit there, look pretty and keep his mouth shut.
Can I join in?
Of course, comment on the posts, use the #fauxmos hashtag and share your tales with us. We’re always delighted to hear from fellow travellers and anyone who wants to contribute themselves, let us know!
What are People Saying about Fauxmos?
Mark Simpson (Yes, THE Mark Simpson): ‘I love your project… It has been my life’s ambition to occupy the spaces nobody else wants, so I would be happy to be cited as an influence’
That is all we need to hear. We have died and gone to fauxmo heaven.
Everyone else: What is fauxmos?
I’m really loving this concept. Excellent blog! I’m excited to read more. =)
